Early-stage investments were a big part of Tiger Global's dizzying trajectory in 2021. The investing behemoth participated in 116 early-stage venture deals globally last year—more than the prior eight years combined, according to PitchBook data. 

A hefty chunk of the deals that Tiger Global participated in were for companies headquartered in the US, but 2021 also saw the firm's increasing presence in India, Canada, Brazil and the UK. 

The investor's breakneck dealmaking pace shows no signs of slowing down in 2022. Earlier this year, the VC stalwart reportedly raised more than $11 billion for its latest venture capital vehicle, which it expects to close at $12 billion this month. And less than two months into the year, VC deal activity with participation from Tiger Global has already eclipsed 2019 totals.
